The challenge

When the team at Thomas Preti Caterers decided to throw the ultimate Fall blow-out bash, there was no doubt that the party would be a huge success. They pulled out all of the stops: featuring the Hudson Mercantile’s stunning three floors as the backdrop for the evening, a specially selected decor and entertainment, and of course, delectable food and drinks that would be created and served for the food-loving guests of A Party Vertical. Promoting the event before, during and after would be key in spreading the word beyond the evening’s attendees in order to truly solidify that Thomas Preti Caterers was an expert in throwing the party of the season.

The Solution

An effective way to engage followers at the event was focused on a social media campaign using the popular photo-sharing app, Instagram. The campaign incorporated an official hashtag, #aTPCaffair, to help get people excited about the event and sustain that excitement after the doors closed. Leading up to the party, Thomas Preti Caterers ran an Instagram contest that was promoted through social media, encouraging their foodie followers to tag their food and party photos with #aTPCaffair for a chance to win a VIP invite to the event. Having people share their photos with Preti and introducing an exclusive offers for participants helped quickly build the brand’s social community by a wide margin. During the party, #aTPCaffair was also promoted via custom branded cards that were displayed on the tables. Having the hashtag widely visible at the party encouraged guests to become active participants in the Instagram campaign by sharing their photos from the night which helped build exposure for the Thomas Preti Caterers.

The Results

The 2014 Fall blow-out bash was a huge success. The #aTPCaffair Instagram campaign provided Thomas Preti Caterers with significant brand exposure across Instagram in addition to increasing their Instagram following by 15 percent. It was “a night to remember” as the photos tagged with the #aTPCaffair hashtag created an album of memories and personal experiences from the evening. The entire Thomas Preti Caterers team was ecstatic to see the event was a huge success and, moreover, had been thoughtfully documented by their guests and supporters.
